It’s been a year or so since we held lunch events at The Fev and we thought it’s about time that we collected a few more selective events for you to attend with your family and friends.  We look forward to welcoming you all to our new series of events in 2010, from Gardening to Father’s Day treats, Dior perfumes to home decorating we are planning some exciting and unusual days for all the family to enjoy.

March 14th (Mothering Sunday) Special Mums Spa Day until 9pm

She’s looked after you, lent you money and thinks you’re the best thing since sliced bread.  Now’s the time to give a little something back and spoil your dear old mum!  At the Verbena Spa we’ve created a special evening just for that special lady.  Relax and enjoy the beautiful heat experience, inclusive of our outdoor heated swimming pool & hot tub, aromatherapy room, salt inhalation chamber, monsoon shower, ice fountain, foot spas and saunarium; great for soothing any aches or pains.  Next, indulge in a luxurious 45 minute treatment, and finally end with a scrumptious meal served from our juice bar accompanied by a glass of bubbles.

March 18 – 21 (Thu – Sun) Liquid Amber Art Gallery Launches at The Fev

We are delighted to welcome Liquid Amber Art Gallery to the hotel.  They have created a permanent gallery to exhibit their exclusive range of art within the hotel.  Specialising in originals, you’ll find an eclectic range of hugely respected artists some of which are members of the Royal Academy.  Discover up and coming young artists, as well as some amazing local ones.   The stock of paintings will be forever changing with prices ranging from £500 to £5,000. 

Many of the Liquid Amber artists have had work chosen and hung in the annual Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy.

12th May - "Colour in the Home" Talk by Kate Osborne of Farrow & Ball  

‘Colour in the home’ is an inspirational talk on how to transform your home, hosted by Farrow & Ball Colour Expert and Harrogate Showroom Manager, Kate Osborne.   See colour in a whole new light with this illustrated and informal talk, explaining how, through the simple use of colour, you can achieve striking results. Create traditional or contemporary interiors, change the shape of a room, use colour to emphasise or detract from a structural feature and understand the use of different light sources.

Learn how to approach decorating and develop your knowledge of colour families and paint finishes. Discover the endless possibilities of using wallpaper and paint together to create the perfect scheme. The talk combines inspirational ideas with helpful tips, providing you with the confidence to make informed colour choices and take the worry out of that all important, often overwhelming decision.   After the talk, Kate will be delighted to meet with individuals on a personal basis and offer specific colour advice as well as answering any questions listeners may have.!

May - Coming Soon - Meet the Artist  

We are planning a lunch event with a well known artist, talking about their work and sharing their personal insights into why artists create, their choice of materials, the major influences on their work, and the effect that new technologies have had on their work - It's so much nicer to buy art when you know the artist, their history and the thoughts behind the piece of art, a full exhibition of their work will be on display for purchase.   

Three course lunch followed by a talk

Sunday 20th June - Fathers Day - Afternoon Tea and Pianist Event 

Enjoy a delicious afternoon tea with the whole family on Father's Day. The pianist will be playing whilst you enjoy a selection of sandwiches, delicious cakes and pastries, warm home-made scones served with sumptuous clotted cream and local strawberry jam and of course a refreshing cup of tea or two, plus of course a selection of soft drinks for the children.

July 1st - TV Gardener Matthew Wilson  

Matthew is currently filming an exciting new gardening series (his second series) for Channel 4 called “The Landscape Project” which will be on our screens in May 2010.  Talking about his brand new book called Landscape Man – Making a Garden, his new TV series and sharing his knowledge and tips gained during his impressive career in Horticulture this is your chance to listen and meet Matthew at our relaxed lunch event.

Matthew is no stranger to the Fev, in fact, he’s a regular – having designed our spa garden in 2009 and coming back soon for more design projects around the hotel and spa we can sincerely vouch for his infectious enthusiasm for his subject.  A regular columnist in the national papers, previously in charge of Harlow Carr's development, this is a lunch event not to be missed.  There will also be a chance to buy his brand new book.
