Bank Holiday in Helmsley
Like most people, we love a Bank Holiday weekend! That extra day feels too good to waste, and fortunately, there’s plenty of things happening in and around Helmsley this weekend to make sure you get the most out of it!
The beautiful surroundings of Helmsley Walled Garden provide the backdrop to a special Wedding and Spring Fair, in conjunction with Totem Tipis, on Saturday, 29th April.
As well as having the opportunity to explore the garden’s beautiful Spring displays, visitors will also be able to speak to some of the region’s top wedding suppliers to ensure you get the perfect day you deserve.
It runs from 10am to 3pm and entry costs just £2.
Elsewhere, The National Centre for Birds of Prey will host the annual British Falconry Fair.
The event, which has been the largest and most visited falconry fair in Europe since it started back in 1990, is under new management this year, giving it a new lease of life.
Taking place on 30th April and 1st May, it will feature a world class series of ring events to showcase the very best in flying demonstrations.
If you’re looking for something a little more creative, the Dippy Craft and Gift Fair takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, 1 May. The event is home to around 25 stalls featuring the best in handmade items and gifts.
Admission is free and is open between 10am and 4.30pm at The Feathers.
If none of that excites you and you’re still stuck for ideas on how to spend your Bank Holiday weekend, there’s plenty to see and do slightly further afield.
If culture and countryside are more your thing, why not spend your days exploring the North York Moors National Park, take a trip to Helmsley Castle or visit the majestic nearby ruins of Rievaulx Abbey.
Whatever you choose to do, we hope you have fun in Helmsley and enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend!
