'Ey up, it's Yorkshire Day

As we near the end of July, it’s time to look forward to Yorkshire Day. Celebrated annually on 1 August, no doubt northerners across the county will be tucking into their favourite regional delicacy – most likely a Sunday roast (on a Tuesday) with plenty of Yorkshire puddings.

If you’ve always wanted to visit Yorkshire, Yorkshire Day is the perfect time to make a trip. As the biggest county in the UK, we realise that it may be tricky to know where to start. From York Minster to the National Railway Museum, there’s something here for everyone.

Here in Helmsley, we’re pretty well placed to experience some of the best sights that Yorkshire (specifically the north!) has to see. We’re always delighted to plan personalised itineraries for our guests, from trips through the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales, excursions along the coast beside the Gothic seaside town of Whitby to picnicking in beauty spots such as Aysgarth Falls and Sutton Bank.

Closer to home, there’s also Helmsley Castle, Helmsley Walled Garden and The National Centre for Birds of Prey. You’ll be spoiled for choice.

We also offer a variety of exciting activities that get our guests out and about, exploring the wonderful Yorkshire countryside. From traditional activities like horse riding, golf and fishing, to 4 x 4 driving, clay pigeon shooting, quad bikes and Mad Max karts, experience Yorkshire like never before.

For something a little bit different, the Yorkshire Chauffeur Company offers a bespoke, guided tour of the Yorkshire countryside. From major tourist attractions to country pubs and tea rooms, the team is on hand with some fantastic recommendations.

That said, we do realise some of our guests come to Yorkshire just to relax and unwind. Fortunately, you don’t even have to leave the hotel to experience our wonderful county.

Our ethos is entrenched in our location and we think it’s fair to say that Yorkshire hospitality is at the heart of everything we do, whether it’s our friendly staff or our fantastic food.

We believe Yorkshire produces some of the best ingredients in the country so locally sourced produce is at the centre of many of our dishes, from breakfast through to dinner. So, whether you’re looking to take a load off, or to refuel after a busy day exploring, we’ve got a dish for you.
