With so much to see and do in and around Helmsley and the North York Moors, from history to hiking, there really is something to suit every taste.
Yet aside from the castles, the culture and the stunning scenery, there are also some truly unique events and activities to enjoy when you come to visit.
The award-winning National Centre for Birds of Prey – named the best attraction in Yorkshire in 2017 – will host the ever-popular British Falconry & Raptor Fair on Saturday and Sunday, 23rd and 24th June and is the biggest event of its type.
Taking place within the grounds of Duncombe Park, in the North York Moors National Park, the event will play host to a number of trade stands, seminars, a bar and Saturday evening BBQ, once the fair closes for the day. Tickets for this are available on the day.
The highlight of the show will no doubt be the world class series of ring events, showcasing the very best in flying demonstrations from some of the top display falconers as well as a demonstration from Stoneycairn Gundogs on how to train and manage working dogs.
Entry is available on the day and costs £13 for adults and £6.50 for children. Tickets for the BBQ cost £7.
The National Centre for Birds of Prey has over 40 aviaries and the majority of the birds are part of breeding programmes. Visitors are introduced to the various different species during the three demonstrations hosted by staff every day. Admission also includes to the Duncombe Estate’s 300 acres of stunning parkland, so there’s plenty to see and do for all the family.
