Detox Dandelion Tea

Our fantastic Head Chef, Norman Mackenzie, recommends drinking a Detox Dandelion Tea to fully rejuvenate on the inside. According to classical homeopathic practitioner, Sonya McLeod, dandelions are an excellent source of vitamin A, potassium, iron and calcium. According to McLeod, dandelion tea is a diuretic, which means it will eliminate bodily toxins through your liver and kidneys.

Norman is a keen forager and gardener, he recommends clearing your garden of dandelions early autumn – it’s the perfect time of year for it. Simply dig up the root, clean it off, chop it and then store in an airtight jar until next year. Alternatively, you can buy the dried root from your nearest health food store.  

The root offers stronger detox capabilities, but try this quick and simple method as an easy alternative:

Brew six tbsp. of 1-year-old dried dandelion root and 12 tbsp. of fresh dandelion leaves in four cups of purified, boiling water.

Simply add two tbsp. of crushed dandelion leaves to a cup of boiling water and allow it to brew for 10 minutes.
