Meet the team – Nicola Bolden
Following on from last week’s blog about planning the perfect wedding, we thought we’d sit down and have a chat with our wonderful wedding and events coordinator, Nicola, to find out why she loves helping happy couples plan and organise their perfect wedding day.
Nicola, how long have you been working at the Hotel?
I joined the team nine years ago and have been looking after bride and grooms-to-be ever since. I love it here and the nine years have flown by!
Tell us more about your role at the hotel.
If you’re planning a wedding, I’ll be your first point of call. From the initial enquiry, right through to the big day itself. I can help you choose the perfect colour schemes and advise on what doesn’t work so well too! If you’re torn between what to serve your guests for lunch, we can discuss the options available in The Weathervane restaurant and totally tailor the day to suit you. Your wedding day is exactly that, all yours. I will make sure it’s as unique and special as you have imagined.
What is your favourite part of the job?
The wedding day, of course! I absolutely love seeing everyone in their suits and dresses and big, fancy hats. One of my favourite moments, which gets me every time, is seeing the gorgeous bride walk down our grand staircase – it’s like the cherry on top of the cake!
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve experienced in your job?
What I find most interesting is meeting excited new couples and families. I love hearing their engagement stories too. Some bring a tear to my eye and others make me laugh, but the best bit is they are all individual and have a unique element to the tale. I really enjoy building new relationships and friendships with the couples too. I also love welcoming happy couples back into the hotel for romantic getaways after the wedding. It’s so lovely seeing them return as a married couple!
What attracted you to work at the Feversham Arms?
That’s easy, the reputation. Feversham Arms is well-known for its excellent customer service and gorgeous spa, hotel and restaurant. It’s a privilege working in such a beautiful part of the world, in such a luxurious and friendly hotel.
What makes the Feversham Arms unique?
The outdoor heated swimming pool is certainly unique for North Yorkshire! It’s open all year round too, so even on these chilly January days you can enjoy a relaxing swim in the open air.
Why should people visit the Feversham Arms?
I’d say one of the top reasons would be to experience the fine dining on offer in The Weathervane restaurant. All year round, food is locally sourced and freshly prepared by our expert kitchen team. Secondly, I’d recommend people visit us for The Verbena Spa. No visit to the hotel would be complete without experiencing our outdoor heated pool and luxurious spa facilities! We’re also nestled in the picturesque market town of Helmsley with the most gorgeous walks right on our doorstep, including one of the prettiest national parks in England, the North York Moors.
