Take a drive with us

We’re not shy at The Feversham Arms when it comes to boasting about our surroundings. Our hotel is located on the edge of the North York Moors national park in the picturesque town of Helmsley, this means stunning scenery surrounds us.

On our doorstep are the ruins of Helmsley Castle, a medieval fortress that was once a Civil War strong hold, as well as nearby Rievaulx Abbey and Byland Abbey. There is Castle Howard to the south, Helmsley Arts Centre, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and Lightwater Valley Theme Park. The town also has many other delights for visitors staying at The Feversham Arms.

We know a trip to North Yorkshire requires some exploring and to give our customers the chance to really experience our part of the northeast we teamed up with Seaham Hall in Durham to create a package so visitors can enjoy the beauty of our region.

Both we at The Feversham Arms and the team at Seaham Hall pride ourselves on being luxury spa venues, so the chance to partner with them was a natural one.

This fantastic driving tour package offers two nights at each hotel offering up the perfect chance to fully explore this part of the northeast.

Guests can start with us and head north or choose to begin in Durham, but wherever your starting point you can guarantee you will arrive to half a bottle of chilled champagne in your suite to get the experience off to the most decadent start. Three course dinners will be offered from a mouth-watering menu at each venue and of course breakfast to start the day right.

While guests are with us at The Feversham Arms they will be able to explore the historical Castle Howard as part of the package and trust us it is worth the visit.

During the visit you will be able to take in the world-renowned collections, stunning architecture and inspiring family stories or relax amid the idyllic gardens, enjoy woodland and lakeside walks, and let off steam on the adventure playground.

For a different take on history guests will also be provided with a day pass to Beamish while at Seaham Hall. Here the past really does come to life as you wander through the outdoor museum taking in the sights, sounds and tastes of Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian Britain. Head underground to feel the reality of life in the mines and take a ride on a steam train to really travel back.

And when it comes to the journey between the two hotels don’t worry, we’ve got that covered. It takes around an hour and half to make the drive but we insist you take your time.

Whether you start with us or at Seaham Hall we will provide a delicious picnic in a wicker basket to make sure your journey is a relaxed and enjoyable part of the trip. Of course there will also be the chance to enjoy the gorgeous spa facilities with us and at Seaham Hall.

What better way to relax, explore and unwind in the great north.
