Tour de Yorkshire
The countdown is on for this year’s Tour de Yorkshire and we can’t wait.
Between the 28th and 30th April, the Moors and Dales will be alive with the sound of chains, pedalling and cheers.
Since its inaugural race in 2015, the event has attracted around 3.5m visitors to our glorious county.
But while the official route understandably takes in some of the most stunning scenery Yorkshire has to offer in some of its key locations, there’s plenty more to explore for those looking for a trip (or cycle) off the beaten track.
At our base here in Helmsley – winner of Britain’s Best Market Town in The Great British High Street of the Year Awards 2015 – we’re nestled snuggly in the foothills of the North York Moors National Park.
Home to history, heritage and horticulture there’s plenty to explore right on our doorstep, with attractions including Helmsley Castle, the Walled Garden, Helmsley Gallery and the National Centre for Birds of Prey.
If you’d rather escape the hustle and bustle, that sense of history and heritage also spreads its wings across the sweeping landscape of the National Park; from the Moorland to the woodlands.
So whether you want to experience culture or comfort, we’ve got a wide range of rooms available to suit all tastes. Plus, as a dog-friendly hotel, that sense of adventure can be experienced and enjoyed by all the family.
After all that excitement, you can refuel with a delicious meal in The Weathervane and reenergise with a relaxing visit to the Verbena Spa
