Weekend Wonders

Offering up two Bank Holiday weekends, it’s fair to say May is probably one of our favourite months!

And with a whole 24 extra hours to spend with friends, family and just generally enjoy yourself, there’s always a host of events taking place on our doorstep, with something to cater for everyone.

This weekend is no different, with a varied programme of events taking place throughout Ryedale and slightly further afield over the three days.

Take a trip back to the swinging 60s on Saturday as the Beck Isle Museum in Pickering celebrates its 50th anniversary with a day of special activities. The fun kicks off at 10am and entry is free.

If you’re more into nibbles than nostalgia, the Malton Food Lovers Festival takes place over Saturday and Sunday. With stalls offering delicious street food, talks and tastings, there is something to tickle the taste buds of the whole family.

Further afield, let’s go fly a kite as Scarborough hosts its Kite Festival at the castle every day over the weekend, from 11am to 5pm. Get to grips with the art of kite flying and watch as expert kite flyers create a spectacle on the headland.

Fancy getting your weekend of to an active start? Don your trainers for The Dalby Forest Parkrun at 9am on Saturday or, if you’re not afraid of a little mud, the charity Cedarbarn Dirty Dash takes place on Sunday, raising money for two local children’s charities. If you’re not taking part, you can still show your support as a spectator.

Or of course, you could always just use those extra 24 hours to sit back, relax and take a little time for yourself.

Join us for the weekend, and with full access to the Verbena Spa, there’s no need for you to lift a finger.

However you spend your Bank Holiday weekend, we hope you enjoy it!
